Katabatic Creative is Jase Blair, an award winning commercial and adventure photographer based on Te Tai Poutini / the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island. Passionate about creative visual communication including commercial photography, drone based aerial photos and video, graphic design, illustration, and photo-manipulation. He is a Master with Distinction and Accredited Commercial Photographer with the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography.
Jase Blair discovered conservation photography as a student, being inspired to follow photography as a career having seen the work of Peter Dombrovski and Olegas Truchanas and the impact a single photograph could have for conservation. These two photographers played a pivotal role in the protection of the Franklin River in Tasmania.
Now Jase is in demand by Greenpeace, the Department of Conservation and others to capture images that will inspire awareness and action to protect precious landscapes and species.
In 2021 Jase was named Landscape (in-camera) Photographer of the Year as well as finalist for Commercial Photographer of the Year at the NZIPP Iris Professional Photography Awards.
