I was on my way to Christchurch and decided to spend the night in Arthur's Pass. The West Coast Alpine Club hut provides salubrious accommodations at a ludicrous price of $8 (for members) a night, and the promise of snow was irresistible. Unfortunately I had to head off very early and missed out on the glorious winter wonderland...
Together with West Coast Film, Katabatic is now able to offer low-level aerial photography and video! Check out a sneak peek of footage from our Cinestar 8!

A wee while ago we needed to get some stock footage of the Southern Alps for a project, and I brought the stills kit along for the ride. Ben from Wilderness Wings (www.wildernesswings.co.nz) is an expert pilot who got us in just the right spots. It was definitely worth the extreme cold of cruising through the mountains...
It was neat to help with a big project earlier this year - making a Health and Safety Induction video for Westland Milk Products in Hokitika. Katabatic provided Second Camera and UAV aerials. It might not be the most exciting thing to watch if you aren't being inducted, but it was really interesting to make. Seeing the facilities...
An exciting new development opened on the Coast in December, and we produced a wee video and TVC promoting it. It was a great opportunity to test out our latest tool - the UAV. The low-level aerials around the structure were shot with the DJI F550 hexa-rotor which we purchased to test out the idea of UAV-based aerial imagery....
Had great fun working with Dave at West Coast Film on a series of videos promoting Mountain Biking at Blue Spur, in Hokitika. I even got to star in some of the sequences!

Here are two versions of a TVC I worked on with Dave from West Coast Film last year. It was a great project - loads of fun, a variety of locations and talent, and a solid concept to work to.

I popped down to the Cobden Breakwater with a few boaters to catch some kayak surfing action. The lighting conditions weren't priomising, but I'm pretty pleased with the result!
